An Update On Transcripts - Where Are They Now?

Hey, folks! There may be one or two of you out there curious about why the transcripts I've previously posted for some episodes in Seasons 5 and 6 have been disappearing from this blog. I have the answer for you!

I have started a new blog that is exclusively for transcripts of The West Wing. I thought it might be easier to do that instead of having transcripts clutter up my episode recaps here ... so, I give you The West Wing Transcripts Center & Presidential Library. 

There is still the blog entry here with links to the transcripts I've been developing, and I'm updating the links there as I post on the new blog. So, if you're looking ... easy peasy. I also copied all the transcripts from the westwingtranscripts dot com website, and I am in the process of getting them formatted for this project. The final result, once I get it finished, will be to have transcripts of every The West Wing episode all in one place, here in my blog.

That westwingtranscripts site has been my go-to for quotes and generally accurate episode scripts, but there are a few issues:

1. That site is missing some episodes from Season 5, Season 6, and Season 7
2. That site hasn't been updated for almost 20 years, the copyright on the site expired almost 10 years ago, and the website certification has expired
3. There are a couple of other sites that claim to have The West Wing transcripts, but I've found they're mostly just scraping the closed-captioning text, which is sometimes inaccurate and never attributing the dialogue to the characters - you have to guess who is saying what

The landing site for westwingtranscripts dot com is already dead, so unless you have a direct link to the search or index page, you can't find it anyway. In the interests of  preserving the work of all the volunteers who worked so hard on writing these up - and honoring the fact that I relied on their work to help put my recaps together - it's only right that I try to put transcripts of every episode in one place.

So - just a quick explanation if anyone wondered why pages were disappearing from here. They still exist! Just in a more organized place.
